The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association, (PRSM), the authority on retail, multi-site facilities management released its 2014 Best Practices Book of retail facilities management case studies, including “Landscaping RFP Award Strategies” and “Landscaping RFP Implementation” written by Kevin Smith, Chief Operating Officer of Ferrandino & Son, Inc. The annual compilation of Best Practices informs the industry on how to improve the bottom line at retail stores, by strategically driving efficiencies through effective retail facilities maintenance.
This year’s compilation includes content from more than 50 suppliers and retailers, including, adidas America, Army Air Force Exchange Service, Barnes & Noble, Chuck E. Cheese, Car Toys, Inc., Gap, Inc., Dollar Tree, Inc., Sears Holding Co., Staples, Inc. Canada and Verizon Wireless reflecting restaurant, specialty, apparel and department stores, from big to small-box format. Noted in this year’s edition, issued to attendees of PRSM2014 National Conference, in Orlando, Florida, is the increased need to develop repeatable practices to standardize work flow and enhance relationships at the supplier partner level. Efforts to document and refine processes are evident in case studies that focus on lighting and HVAC retrofits, floor care maintenance and asset management and disaster response planning.
“PRSM Association’s Best Practices program is one of the most useful benefits of being a PRSM member. Always relevant, the Book provides my company with useful tips and accelerated learning opportunities. It makes a difference in our strategic thinking,” said Mike Fairclough Senior Vice President, The Resicom Group, sponsor of the 2013-14 Best Practices book.
“This installment of the Best Practices Book acknowledges that our members are working harder to understand their business and streamline operations. Many of the reports in this year’s Book stem from some level of data mining and analysis, demonstrating our Members’ deep understanding of how facilities maintenance impacts the bottom line at each store and strong desire to favorably impact those costs,” said Patricia Dameron, Executive Director, PRSM Association. “This publication is a much-anticipated, peer-to-peer reference guide to help industry professionals drive efficiencies and lower costs.”
